It’s the nature of humanity to define others by things obvious and be somewhat irritated by those appearing to be entitled to more. Believers are not to fall into such attitudes and Jesus clearly stated in Matthew 23:11-15 that he who is most prominent should be the servant of all. Anyone raising themselves up will be brought low, and those who humble themselves will be lifted high.
As Pastor reminded us, life has times when special treatment and needs are unavoidable, raising the ire of those around us negatively impacted by our troubles. When subtle and not-so-subtle bad behaviours result, will we respond with the old sin nature or with mercy, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience as Paul instructed in Colossians 3:12? Don’t let others rob your joy or the darkness of the lost put out the light of God's love that should shine through you when hardships enter life.
